St. Stephan, Mainz, the church with the famous windows by Marc Chagall
Chagall, Marc/Marq, Charles, Mittelfenster, Opfer des Isaak Fotorechte: ars liturgica Buch- & Kunsthandlung MARIA LAACH, 2014
From 1978 to 1985 Marc Chagall (1887-1985) created nine windows for the east choir and transept of St. Stephen's; they are the only glass windows of the world-famous painter in Germany.
From 1989 to 2000 the glass artist Charles Marq (1923-2006), senior partner of the glass studios Simon in Reims, supplemented the glass window work of Marc Chagall in St. Stephen's by further 19 stained glass windows in the main nave, in the west choir and in the baptistry and in the entrance door.
